Biography

David Horsey (Eng)
Born: April 4, 1985 | Residence: Alderley Edge, England | Turned pro: 2007
Titles: Euro: 4
Horsey captured his fourth European Tour title by winning wire-to-wire at the 2015 Made in Denmark, brilliantly saving par on the last to win by two after driving into heavy rough. That win for him came a year after he claimed the 2014 M2M Russian Masters, beating Damien McGrane in a play-off at Tseleevo Golf and Polo Club. He also won a play-off at the 2011 Trophée Hassan II, where he led by one from Rhys Davies with one hole to play, but double-bogeyed, giving Davies a four foot putt to win. The Welshman missed, and Horsey’s birdie at the second hole of the play-off, which also featured Jaco Van Zyl, was enough to secure victory. The previous year David claimed his breakthrough victory at the BMW International Open, where he came from five strokes back on the final day to win by a single stroke. He also enjoyed a successful amateur career, but exceeded his own expectations in his first full season on the Challenge Tour in 2008 by claiming two titles and graduating to the European Tour as the Number One. His breakthrough came at the Telenet Trophy, where he birdied three of the last four holes to win by one shot. Buoyed by the victory, he effectively sealed his place on the 2009 European Tour International Schedule with his second triumph of the season two weeks later, at the AGF-ALLIANZ EurOpen de Lyon. A final day 65 gave Horsey the title by one shot from his compatriot Marcus Higley and propelled him to the top of the Rankings, where he ended the season.
