Gaganjeet Bhullar bounced back from a wrist injury he sustained in 2014 by winning the 2016 Shinhan Donghae Open in Korea in 2016 and then went on to clinch the BANK BRI-JCB Indonesia Open title for the second time in his career two months later. He had enjoyed a wire-to-wire triumph at the Indonesia Open in 2013 and also finished second at the Avantha Masters on home soil. A very talented young player, he was also Anirban Lahiri and Chiragh Kumar’s teammate at Asian Games in 2006, when they won a team silver. He played a crucial role for Asia at the inaugural EurAsia Cup against Europe, which was tied 10-10. He had a very successful amateur career, after being India’s number one amateur in 2004.
