The first Indian to compete on The European Tour, Jeev Milkha Singh has won four times on European Tour including big events like the Volvo Masters of Europe in 2008 and Scottish Open in 2012. However, Jeev, despite his being the most success international golfer from India, has often been laid low by injuries. Twice winner of Asian Tour Order of Merit, he was ranked as high as No. 28th in the world, the best-ever by an Indian in 2008. In April 2007, Jeev became the first Indian golfer to participate in the Masters Tournament and acquitted himself well, finishing in a tie for 37th place at Augusta National. He played twice more in 2008 and 2009. He also finished in Top-10 at a Major – tied 9th at 2008 PGA Championships. Jeev has been decorated with the Padma Shri in recognition of his distinguished contribution in golf. His father, ‘Flying Sikh’Milkha Singh, a multiple gold medallist in Asian Games sprinting and champion at Commonwealth Games, was also fourth at 1960 Olympics.
