Message From Dr Pawan Munjal

My Dear Friends and Golf Aficionados,

I am delighted to once again welcome you to India’s National Open — the Hero Indian Open 2023!

India’s flagship golf event is making its much-awaited return after a pandemic-induced gap of four years. Our home for the tournament continues to be the magnificent DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurugram.

While we missed the tournament, the health and safety of everyone takes precedence and we are happy to see that the cherished journey of this tournament will proceed with all concerns behind us.

This is also a landmark year for this storied tournament, which is now in its 60th year!! Held for the first time in the year 1964, the tournament had an uninterrupted run until the year 2019.

This is one of the oldest and continuously running sporting events in the country, which comes around in late February when the weather is fabulous and the courses are primed to witness great performances and global champions in action.

The Hero Indian Open has been witness to some great performances and champions in its long and illustrious legacy spanning six decades. During this period, Indian Golf has come a long way with our golfers playing around the world with great distinction and recognition.

Hero MotoCorp is pleased to have played the role as a catalyst in this evolving growth journey. Our efforts in both men’s and women’s golf events have resulted with numerous Indian wins across various tours.

We cherish our partnership with this tournament, which commenced in the year 2005. Over the years, the tournament has grown in its scale and stature, and I am sure it will continue to have its rightful place in the global golfing calendar. Quite befitting its growing stature, we have a strong field this year with representation from top players from over 30 countries.

The prize money at the Hero Indian Open has risen to US$ 2 Million – more than six times over the US$ 300,000 prize purse when we first came on board. Since 2015, the DP World Tour has been sanctioning the event, which has offered new opportunities for our golfers.

On behalf of everyone at Hero MotoCorp, I wish all the players, caddies, support staff, and the organizers the very best for the tournament week, which I am sure will once again display world-class golf.

I hope you enjoy the golfing experience. See you at the course!
